The perfect Olde Boston Bulldogge should be of small to medium height and size (not toy sized) with a round compact head and a solid, muscular and athletic body. The disposition should be outgoing, loyal, lively and intelligent.  The temperament is to be very stable and trustworthy.  Olde Boston Bulldogge are a healthy working dog without serious health problems.  Unlike their Boston Terrier cousins males should be free breeders and females should be free whelpers.  The Olde Boston Bulldogge should be devoid of all breathing problems.   Most importantly the Olde Boston Bulldogge is still a working Bulldog and as the Bulldogges of Olde, function should come before form.
The Olde Boston Bulldogge is very affectionate and bonds well with the family, but tends to bond extra with one member. This working dog is easy to train and loves to please.They have a mild temperment, well mannered, gentle,easily trained, agile and athletic.
Weight - 25-45 pounds (11.3-20.3 kg.) This is a big dog in a small dog frame.

The smooth, short-haired coat is easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush and bathe only when necessary. Wipe the face with a damp cloth every day and clean the prominent eyes carefully. Check both the ears and eyes for grass seeds. Ticks may also lurk in the ears. The nails should be clipped from time to time. This breed is an average shedder. They come in a variety of colors ( black/white, blue/white, brown/white, chocolate/white, brindle and caramel.
The Olde Boston Bulldogge is the original Boston Bull, the breed which the Boston Terrier developed from, therefore the early history of the Olde Boston Bulldogge is the same as for the Boston Terrier. It is of the original type and form of the breed once known as "The round-headed Bull and Terrier" of Boston, USA (The old type Boston Terrier). The Olde Boston Bulldogge is a separate breed than the Boston Terrier.
